The young swedish sensation that shook thais

Young Muay Thai prodigy from Sweden Smilla Sundell is now in a very uncommon position.
It’s quite frequent to see that nakmuayying forced to retire from professional scene at a  rather young age (normally before 25) for lack of competition.
Smilla Sundell, with roughly 40 fights under her belt at 17 years of age, will likely have serious problems into finding adequate opponents in muay Thai rules before turning 18.
She has already easily dispatched thai champion Pornpan at the 54 kgs limit, gave an upset to thai fan favourite Sawsing while moving up to 57 kg and managed to draw with Fahseethong at the limit of 58 kg.
We remind our readers that Fahseethong usually competes at much higher weight having collected world belt even at 65 and 67 kg vs valid opponents.
In the next future Smilla will reasonably set her fight weight at 57 kg, with just a bunch of possible candidates that could give proper opposition in muay thai rules.
Her only plausible plan would be to switch to kickboxing where she could find some fighters from Europe or China,  or more likely trying to follow the footsteps of Valentina Schevchenko and switch to MMA.
Considering that the young Swedish girl is developing some good boxing skills it could be also possible to see her trying a transition to western boxing, where many female kickboxers before her reached stardom like, first overall, legendary Lucia Rijker. Future will tell!

Emmanuele Corti: he started to practice muay thai at a young age in Trieste (Italy), beginning to fight almost immediately in prestigious gala along with top Thai fighters and rising stars like the Petrosyan brothers. After a period of work experience leading him abroad, he eventually settled in Thailand in late 2011 crowning the dream of his life, which is to open a muay thai camp. From that year he has been actively following the preparation of his camp's fighters and has often collaborated with the Muay Farang team, continuing to fight actively for the major promotions of the Asian continent.
